Cornish Mining

Cornish mining building

The landscape of Cornwall is dotted with old Engine Houses and Mine Workings, making it unique in Great Britain. Cornish Mining has now been granted World Heritage Site Status and confirmed what many local people and visitors to the region had always known.

I was born under the shadow of South Crofty mine and I have always had a passion for mines both old and new. Here are a few of these glorious buildings from our rich industrial heritage that I have been inspired to paint. Mainly from the Great Flat Lode, a local trail that is near to Redruth, but also the mine workings at Chapel Porth on the north coast of Cornwall.
