Whilst I love Cornwall, I do enjoy visiting other places around England and, as always, I carry my sketch book and also my camera. This is a selection of paintings and sketches from various locations in England inspired by short trips and holidays.
One of the paintings is when we visited Oxford one very hot summer, it was too hot to even walk and look at the magnificent buildings, but sitting by the side of the river with the trees for shade was lovely.
Another is from a brief visit to Wells, en route to Bristol Airport, and we came across Vicars’ Close near Wells Cathedral, and I loved the symmetry of the Chimney’s.
Another is a sketch of the Clapper Bridge at Postbridge on Dartmoor, sketched during October, when it was getting a bit cold, but I found a nice sheltered spot and the sun came out to warm me up.
