Description
An original watercolour painting of the Clapper Bridge at Postbridge on Dartmoor, Devon. I used a pen and ink to capture the scene and then painted in watercolour afterwards.
It had been a beautiful October day however as we were walking around the Clapper Bridge area we had a small rain shower. It stopped and enabled me to get my paints out. However by this time the sun was getting low in the sky and I had to paint quickly. The Clapper Bridge is a simple stone bridge made of large, flat slabs resting on large stones. With various indentations you can only imagine how many people would have walked over this bridge over the centuries. It was originally the main road in this part of Dartmoor.
