Whilst I love Cornwall, I do enjoy visiting other places around England. As always, I carry my sketch book and also my camera.
This is a selection of paintings and sketches from various locations in England inspired by short trips and holidays.
One of the paintings is from our visit to Oxford during a very hot summer. It was too hot to even walk and look at the magnificent buildings, however sitting by the side of the river with the trees for shade was lovely.
Another painting is from a brief visit to Wells, whilst we were en route to Bristol Airport. Whilst walking around we came across Vicars’ Close, near Wells Cathedral, and I love the symmetry of the Chimney’s and it was perfect to paint starting with a pen and ink drawing.
Another is a sketch of the Clapper Bridge at Postbridge on Dartmoor, sketched during October, when it was getting a bit cold, luckily I found a nice sheltered spot and the sun came out to warm me up.
