Description
This is a mixed media, original painting of Wheal Uny Mine, an old Tin Mine, near to Redruth, Cornwall
This was my first watercolour painting where I started using Gesso, along with a limited colour palette using mainly Indigo. Using the Gesso technique I remove some of the paint to reveal the texture. As Indigo is a staining colour, some of the colour remained, further enhancing the feeling of texture.
I can see the two old Engine Houses of Wheal Uny from my house and I loved learning this new technique to get over the historical feeling of the mine.
